The Sweet Water Store in Playa Gigante is now featuring brand new limited item Prana Yoga gear! The popular climbing / Yoga wear company, represented by Meme Snell, a frequent visitor and surfer in Gigante has taken an interest in Sweet Water and was inspired by the new fitness/yoga movement with the local ladies in Gigante, hoping to collaborate more in the future.
prAna is an ancient Sanskrit word for breath, life and vitality of the spirit, and has helped guide their actions and lift their aspirations since day one.
They started in 1992 making clothing that worked well for climbing and yoga. It turned out that the clothing worked well for lots of other passions too, so they added new products with “purpose” in mind and scoured the world for design inspiration.
They cut and sewed clothing in their garage and shipped it to customers in surplus fruit boxes gathered from the local grocery store. For hangtags, they ground up old newspapers, added essential oils and cut out the handmade paper with a pizza cutter. Their first employee slept on a hinged bed that turned into a shipping table by day.
Pretty impressive stuff and similar to Sweet Water’s beginnings and passions. We hope one day to have
the ladies of Gigante making all our own gear and prospering with their new learned skills!
Come by and check out the store and see the Prana wear that we have. We’ve got lots of yoga tank tops, shorts, head bands, etc. and remember that all proceeds go back into community projects!
